Street Photographer Summit in Vienna

The GR Cities project was started to connect GR photographers with each other.

For this purpose, the hashtag consisting of #shootgr_ and the location where the photo was taken, e.g. #shootgr_wien, #shootgr_london or #shootgr_Paris, is used.
In this way, GR photographers from all over Europe, and now all over the world, present their cities on Instagram with their GR City hashtags. As soon as the community in the countries is big enough, meetings are then also organised where GR photographers can meet and exchange ideas in person, such as the meet-up in Berlin, London or Paris.

A very special GR photographers' meeting took place in December 2022. The Österreich Werbung together with Wien Tourismus invited to a GR Street Photography Summit.

The aim was to show the participants Vienna away from Sisi, Apfelstrudel and co. and to discover the coolest corners of the culturally influenced city. A special highlight of this event was a visit to the famous Christmas market on Spittelberg, which with its romantic playfulness was a perfect background for the street photographers.
But also the cool graffiti at Schwedenplatz, and the more elegant districts provided some motifs. And so, in one weekend, the well-known Vienna around St. Stephen's Cathedral was explored as well as the many small alleys and backyards off the beaten track.
The city of Vienna presented itself in a very versatile way and whetted the appetite for more.

Even though the theme of this weekend was street photography, the participants also got to know the touristy part of Vienna and were able to gain some advantages from it. In the end, all participants, whether typical street photographers with the Ricoh GR or GR IIIx, or travel photographers with the GR III Diary Edition, got their money's worth, and all agreed that Vienna is very versatile, that openness to new things is alive and well here, and that photo artists and artists find endless inspiration here.

The places for this GR-Streetphoto Summit, which were raffled off together with the Österreich Werbung, the Wien Tourismus, the streetphotographers magazine Soul of Street and Ricoh Imaging, were taken very quickly, which shows the great interest in the Austrian street photo community. Keep using the hashtag #ShootGR_Viena, and show how great and interesting Vienna is. Maybe we will meet soon for a RICOH GR MEET UP in Vienna.
