Deze camera beschikt over de basisvoordelen van het basismodel - uitzonderlijke beeldkwaliteit, vlekkeloze werking en uitstekende mobiliteit - en stelt de gebruiker in staat om met één enkele beweging het nieuw ontwikkelde, geïntegreerde HDF (Highlight Diffusion Filter) te activeren, wat zachte, vloeiende beelden oplevert met diffuus lichtgebieden naast de heldere, scherp gefocuste beelden van de basismodellen.Met dit filter kan de gebruiker de vastgelegde beelden een geheel andere visuele expressie geven, afhankelijk van het onderwerp of de creatieve intentie.

De GR IIIx HDF is voorzien van het nieuw ontwikkelde HDF-filter (Highlight Diffusion Filter), dat hoge highlights benadrukt en zachte, vloeiende beelden produceert.
Omdat de HDF met één druk op de knop kan worden in- en uitgeschakeld, kan de gebruiker moeiteloos schakelen tussen twee totaal verschillende visuele expressies, afhankelijk van het onderwerp of de creatieve bedoelingen: heldere, scherp gefocuste beelden, kenmerkend voor de Ricoh GR-serie, en zachtere, vloeiendere beelden vastgelegd door de HDF. Deze creatieve veelzijdigheid verlegt de visuele grenzen van snapshotfotografie.
